About the Band
Fonky Donkey plays all original, foot stompin', hip shakin', slide-guitar driven original and traditional blues, roots, and Americana music. Hailing out of LIttle Rock, Arkansas, Fonky Donkey is Ben "Swamp Donkey" Brenner (guitar/slide guitar/harp/lead vocals), Gil Franklin (lead guitar/slide/vocals), Lynn Fitzgerald (bass), Lance "Bug Tussle Slim" Womack (drums/percussion/vocals), and Kevin Lewis (sax). Fonky Donkey released their first full length album, "Donkeyland" on March 19, 2022. Describe as a "roots & blues excusion through the heartland" and as a record "full of cool surprises," Donkeyland features eight new original songs, including two featuring legendary organ player Joe Krown on the Hammond B-3. In 2022, you can see Fonky Donkey playing gigs and festivals throughout the American South, including the Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale, Mississippi in April 2022 and the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas, in October 2022.
