About the Band
Richard Bennett isn’t just a guitarist, a singer, or a songwriter—he’s one of the few whose musical DNA is woven directly into the fabric of American roots music itself.
He picked up the guitar at seven years old in East Tennessee… and by FIFTEEN, he was already on the road, touring with former Flatt & Scruggs fiddle great Benny Sims. By the time most were just learning their first scale… Richard was already becoming the next generation.
Dollywood stages came next.
Then the 1990’s happened—and his life changed forever.
Bennett joined J.D. Crowe & The New South—one of the most influential and groundbreaking bands in Bluegrass history. He appeared on the 1995 album Flashback which went on to be nominated for TWO GRAMMY Awards and forever stamped his name into Bluegrass legacy.
From there… he continued carving a path beside giants—Bobby Osborne, Mike Auldridge, Jimmy Gaudreau—and earned worldwide recognition for his tone, his phrasing, and his undeniable voice.
Richard released multiple albums on both Lonesome Day and Pinecastle Records—records that crossed borders, formats, playlists, DJ circles and generations—earning airplay across Bluegrass, Folk, Americana and beyond.
Richard Bennett is one of the few artists whose story is the story of modern acoustic American roots music.
A legend who lived it.
A craftsman who shaped it.
And a voice still carrying the weight, richness, and brilliance of all the miles behind him.
