Nashville based American singer-songwriter Nellen Dryden is mesmerizing audiences with the melodic and nostalgic music of her live show and  debut album "Little Stray Heart." Drawn to the sensual and observant in her storytelling and performance,  Nellen sings stories of loss, hope, dreaming, wanderlust and her own family history. Nellen has been compared to many of her influences such as Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Neko Case, Mazzy Star and Buddy and Julie Miller.

Nellen's songwriting and vocal style stem from the canon of her early listening experiences: church gospel choir,  Carter Family tunes at household gatherings, and proudly worn turn-table needles spinning classic albums like After the Goldrush or Innervisions. With a love for performance and a background in theatre, her show is a mix of personal, doting and comic tellings. 

Nellen plays both duo and full band with her Telecaster-toting, partner-in-crime, Jules Belmont. Her band and players add a dreamy and brightly colored hue to her vocal range. Most recently, two songs from her debut EP, Final Say were featured on a new web series called Coffee House Chronicles and the entirety of her debut album has been licensed for programming on A&E, Disocvery Channel and MTV.

"Little Stray Heart," the title track off her debut album is a lush composition chronicling a 'drifter' on a wandering path.  Coping with the loss of dear family and friends over the past years while carving out a life in NYC, Dryden came to write many of the songs in her current show and LP. The album was recorded, engineered and mixed by Josh Hahn at his studio, The Relic Room in Chelsea, Manhattan and self-produced by Dryden & Belmont.

As one reviewer notes, Nellen’s songs are “a slow and rollicking piece of Americana... with quite a bit of diversity (The Even Ground).” Whether belting about her family history in Deadwood, South Dakota, or serenading her audience with tales of love and loss, listeners will find themselves curious and engaged in this rising artist's  world.
