Master guitarist Robillard consistently manages to keep matters fresh while maintaining solid roots connections.  No small credit must go to his considerable knack as a songwriter, mining multiple stylistic veins that suitably match his wide instrumental range.  The band is predictably solid and the leader’s axe work predictably tasteful and tasty.  The classic horn chart on “Emphasis on Memphis” grabs the ear, as does Robillard’s vocal duet with guest Sunny Crownover on “Nasty Guitar”.
