Remembered for their many fine albums on the legendary Real Music label, 2002 strike New Age gold with their 2023 album entitled Clouds Below. The Texas-based trio features the family of Randy, Pamela and Sarah Copus rise to the occasion on an album that is New Age instrumental through and through. Styles include New Age of course yet there are also rewarding elements of soundtrack and even touches of smooth jazz and progressive rock, in a kind of Wakeman-esque manner. Start to finish the ten-track CD keeps its sonic cool and is guaranteed to lower blood pressure and leave you feeling lighter in body and mind.

There are echoes of soundtrack music yet it’s not mysterious or therapeutic sounding. It’s basically just beautiful sounding music from three skilled musicians on the same sonic wavelength. A number of sounds and styles permeate the sound but the 2002 lineup features harps and flutes that are all real and played by Pamela Copus, while Randy Copus plays guitar, piano and bass and Sarah Copus played piano and provided the background vocals.  Several guests artists lend a hand including a pair of string players and a sax players. After a score of album releases, 2002 still sounds supremely relaxing on their 21st album Clouds Below.
