Laid-back chemistry of a very appealing variety is a constant with the pairing of octogenarian Leon Atkins- p/k/a Lil’ Jimmy Reed- and young blues turk Ben Levin.  The Baton Rouge guitarist/harmonica player/vocalist and the Cincinnati-bred pianist convey an easy-going rapport throughout a session big on good vibes and tasty play. Lil’ Jimmy pays homage to his professional namesake with a convincing reading of “Down in Virginia” and even rekindles the musical “feud” between JR and Reed soundalike G.L. Crockett- “I’m the Man Down There”. Catching the ear as well is the Ben Levin co-write “Wish You Wouldn’t”.
