One of the best guitarists in the world today, Australia-based Ben Rogers continues his attack on the instrumental guitar rock world with the 2023 CD release of Splash Landing. Released by Ben’s band, the Ben Rogers’ Instrumental Asylum, the album features 14 songs mostly written by Ben. Several of the tracks were co-written by bass player and sometimes drummer Nikki Scarlet and drummer Denis Close. Nikki also did a great job with her excellent album art design. Many of the tracks proceed at breakneck speed all the while featuring a thrashing mix of instrumental guitar in the surf-rock vein, while other tracks offer a pensive array of Shadows style instrumentals with a heavy accent on the album’s overall melodic imprint. Guitar virtuoso Ben Rogers has released a number of acclaimed guitar instrumental albums with his ‘Asylum’ as well as other albums that spotlight his fascination with Gypsy Jazz guitar instrumentals. That said, Splash Landing is a superbly produced and composed collection of eclectic guitar rock instrumentals and as such is a welcome addition to the impressive back catalog of Aussie guitar superstar Ben Rogers.
