Those familiar with the “jazz without borders” aesthetic of keyboardists such as Marco Benevento and groups such as the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey should find much to savor in the work of this Portland trio.  A melodic sense that reaches past jazz convention melds with a straight-ahead jazz attack, and keyboardist Galen Clark displays more than a little sense of straight-ahead swing and lyricism. Ballads are a strong part of the attraction here, tracks such as “So Far”, “Angry Youth III” and “Budapest”.
