With Duke Robillard producing, it’s hardly surprising that fellow guitarist/vocalist Paul Gabriel’s current offering sports a brawny backup band, abundant moments of high quality swinging and bluesy balladeering and tasty fretwork from the featured player.  Fans of Mr. R should feel right at home with Mr. Gabriel’s lyrically tasty, roots-steeped original fare, abundantly laced with nice play from his side players in addition to his own.  Standouts include “Cold, Cold, Cold”, “It Be That Way Sometimes” and “Face Full of Frown”.
