Shawn Amos’ penchant for the blues rides atop a solid songwriter’s sense of phrase turning and a style palette broad enough to keep things fresh.  The results here are brief, to-the-point statements of various moods and frames of mind, each well equipped to catch one’s ear. The breezy nature of the leadoff track, “Stranger Than Today” gives way to the nasty churn and the strong vocal hook of “Troubled Man”.  “Keep The Faith, Have Some Fun” gives off a splendid NOLA vibe and he may be channeling a young Elvis Costello on “Hold Back”.  Good stuff.
